Project Description
When the homeowners in Sammamish, WA, approached Olympic Decks, their goal was to enhance the functionality and safety of their backyard. They envisioned a deck that would improve the usability of their King County home but also cater to their need for a secure and accessible outdoor space.
The design process kicked off with the homeowners’ desire for a deck that would provide a smooth transition from their home’s main level, effectively extending their living area. They chose durable composite decking in a neutral brown for its longevity and minimal maintenance. To complement this, we installed white vinyl railings that not only offered a clean, striking contrast but also met the critical safety needs of the couple.
Although initially considering underdeck storage options, the design was finalized with an open space beneath the deck to keep the area unobstructed and simple, aligning with the homeowners’ preference for an open and airy environment.
Our collaboration with the homeowners was deep and responsive, allowing us to adjust the deck’s design to suit their lifestyle and preferences perfectly. The project did not include lighting or gated features but focused on the essential elements of accessibility and safety.
The completed deck in Sammamish has successfully met the homeowners’ original objectives, providing them with a safe, stylish, and functional outdoor area. This project exemplifies how tailored design and effective client collaboration can significantly enhance the usability and enjoyment of a home’s exterior space.
